Here's the latest Papercut template from Mad March Moon 'Professor Octo' the steampunk octopus.
Specifically designed to give a 3D effect as it sits both sides of the Mount aperture. The template has clear and easy to follow instructions with tabs that are glued to the back of the mount and which features are to extend out over the front. It will print at the right size to perfectly align with the popular Ribba frame from ikea, which is 23cm x23cm and comes supplied with a mount with an apeture of 12cm x12cm, so cut, mount, frame has never been so easy.

The template is available with commercial use or for personal use only in the shop.

This design is a pair with the 'Top Hat Cat' template that's coming soon.

Iridan the Dragon Puppet is coming along nicely. Here you can see the scales I've made using my acetate method complemeting the jewel beetle wing casings.
The head has been carved from polystyrene then covered in a mulberry paper mache whch gives a good strong shell. The Head is animated by placing your hand inside to make the mouth work, your arm will be up his neck and the body supported by your lap or possibly with a carry strap for walking around, working all that out is the interesting bit.

He's incredibly light in weight which is a big advantage if you're going to be operating it for any length of time :)

I've started a puppet board on pinterest for inspiration, interesting stuff :) If you'd like to follow along join me here.

Three new papercut template designs are now up on the shop Steampunk Stegosaurus, Steampunk Triceratops and Steampunk T-Rex, I'm looking for help choosing the 4th to complete the set so get your thinking caps on, pop over to facebook and join the conversation.

Have had a busy day listing all the templates as both personal use and commercial use versions, am just not a natural at the admin side of things :)

I'm busy working away on the next 5 page colouring booklet, this one is called 'the fountain of imagination' and features children living vibrant fantasy lives. As children we have a rich and captivating capacity for imaginative play, we all remember that a stick could instantly become a wizards wand or a fishing pole in our little hands. We fought with dragons, rode unicorns, dreamed up pirate treasure maps or dinosaurs at the bottom of the garden.

Part of the charm of this new passion for colouring for adults is that it takes us back to our childhoods, it is relaxing as a hobby because it takes us back to a time when we had no responsibilities and life was a stream of never-ending days and fighting to stay awake for just five more minutes.

The enjoyment of colour and the freedom to express yourself is healthy, and even if it's just a quiet 5 minutes you get to yourself to drink a whole cup of coffee while your children wield the pens or if you indulge in the pleasure yourself I hope you will find some amusement and enjoyment from these new drawings...just waiting for your imagination

Win this amazing fairy Tree House!

Mad March has just launched and we've past 5000 followers on Facebook, whoo hoo! To celebrate we are running a Give Away to win this amazing hand made one of a kind Fairy Treehouse Jar.

The Fairy Tree House is hand made from paper, yes paper :) Hand cut papercuts and 3D paper sculpting make the little tree and house assembled and placed in the Jar a little like a ship in a bottle. The Tree house lights up and has a little switch on the base which runs on replaceable batteries. There are also many glow in the dark elements in this piece as well as teenie tiny faires with iridescent wings, glowing mushrooms and tiny ladders. The Jar is approx 20cm tall and has a wire wrapped lid making it possible to hang the jar like a lantern. It is truly one of a kind and has taken many hours to create.

To enter simply join the Moonie Mailing list!

Yes it's that easy :)

You can follow the process of creating the Fairy Treehouse on our facebook page or flick through the gallery of images here.

The Competition will be open for 2 weeks until the 4th of April 2015 at 8pm.
At the close all those who have joined the mailing list will be popped in a hat and one name will be drawn as the winner of the fairy treehouse.
The mailing list will allow you to keep up with what's new from Mad March Moon and I promise to not spam you silly, the newsletter will be once a month to start with and will never be more than once a week, the first newsletter will reveal the competition winner.
I will cover shipping of the prize worldwide for the winner.
No alternative prize will be offered.
My decision is final.

The website will grow over time to not only be the home of all things Mad March Moon but to include tutorials and do it yourself craft projects, reviews of craft materials and products.

In the future we look forward to having the Moonies play an active part in how the website develops so keep your eyes peeled for information on how you can contribute and get involved.
